Overview

The Stamford Islamic Center (SIC) has served the Fairfield County, CT Muslim community for over 26 years. As we continue to grow, we are expanding to meet the increasing demands of our community with the SIC 2.0 Expansion Project. This project aims to build a comprehensive facility that will cater to educational, recreational, and spiritual needs.

 

Project Phases and Budget Breakdown

 

    1. Phase 1: Community Consultations and Feasibility Studies
        • Duration: Month 1 to Month 4
        • Description: Initial community consultations to gather insights and conduct feasibility studies for the expansion project. This phase ensures the community’s needs are identified and incorporated.
        • Budget: $200,000
    2. Phase 2: Securing Permits and Approvals
        • Duration: Month 4 to Month 7
        • Description: Obtain all necessary permits and approvals from local authorities to ensure compliance with regulations and readiness for construction.
        • Budget: $100,000
    3. Phase 3: Design and Development
        • Duration: Month 7 to Month 10
        • Description: Focus on creating functional blueprints and architectural designs for the expanded facilities, including the prayer hall, classrooms, gym, and funeral home services.
        • Budget: $500,000
    4. Phase 4: Construction and Infrastructure Development
        • Duration: Month 10 to Month 19
        • Description: Begin construction of the new facilities. This phase includes building the new prayer hall with a capacity for 850 attendants, classrooms for a full-time Islamic school (up to 5th grade), community gym, and funeral home services.
        • Budget: $2.5 million
    5. Phase 5: Recruitment and Staff Training
        • Duration: Month 19 to Month 25
        • Description: Recruit and train staff to operate the new facilities. Emphasis will be on aligning with community values and service expectations.
        • Budget: $300,000
    6. Phase 6: Community Engagement and Grand Opening
        • Duration: Month 25 to Month 26
        • Description: Organize a grand opening celebration to showcase the new facilities and engage the community. Initiate community-centric programs to maximize the impact of the new services.
        • Budget: $100,000

Imagine a future where our growing Muslim community has the resources, space, and facilities to thrive. For over 26 years, the Stamford Islamic Center (SIC) has been a beacon of faith, unity, and service in Fairfield County, CT. Alhamdulillah, we have served thousands, but with our ever-growing congregation, we have outgrown our current space.

Now, we turn to YOU, our beloved community, to help us transform SIC into a center that will serve generations to come.

Why Do We Need Your Help?

With your generosity, we are embarking on a $3.7 million expansion project (SIC 2.0) to increase capacity and provide essential services for our children, youth, elders, and the entire Ummah.

This project includes:

✅ Expanding the prayer hall to accommodate 850 worshippers, allowing for larger congregational prayers and Eid gatherings.
✅ Building a full-time Islamic school (up to 5th grade)—the first in a 30-mile radius, ensuring our children receive both academic and Islamic education.
✅ Constructing a funeral home to provide dignified Islamic burial services. We already have 1,200 grave sites in Norwalk, CT.
✅ Adding a gymnasium and indoor basketball court to engage youth, promote health, and strengthen our community bonds.
✅ Developing a food bank to support those in need on a weekly basis.
✅ Building a multi-level parking structure to accommodate the increasing number of visitors.
